Swieqi United won the Assikura Women’s Super Cup after defeating Birkirkara 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Salamatu Abdulai put Dorianne Theuma’s side ahead on 13 minutes and just before the end of the first half, Shona Zammit doubled the score. Erica Oliveira Bispo pulled one back on 65 minutes.

To make matters worse for Birkirkara, Charlene Zamit was sent off in added time.

After the game, Swieqi captain Shona Zammit was presented with the trophy by Malta FA vice-president Dr Maria Azzopardi.
