Mgarr United and Tarxien Rainbows joined Santa Lucia and Pieta’ Hotspurs in fourth place in the BOV Challenge League on Sunday.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Mgarr beat Senglea Athletic 2-1. Benjamin Tweneboa put Senglea ahead on 15 minutes but Samuel Boakye equalised on the 31st and an own goal seven minutes in the second half handed Mgarr the three points.
A goal by Jurgen Debono on the 58th handed Tarxien a narrow win over Fgura United at the Centenary Stadium while in another match at the same venue, Lija Athletic returned to winning ways, defeating Sirens 3-0 thanks to goals by Rundell Renold Winchester on the 5th, a Jhanluis Hernandez penalty on the 61st and a goal by Luca Mallia on the 74th.
In another match, a goal by Chico Mendes on the 24th and a Gaetano Gesualdi penalty three minutes in the second half enabled Zebbug Rangers to beat St. Andrews 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Valletta lead the way with 26 points, followed by Marsa and Swieqi on 21, Mgarr, Tarxien, Santa Lucia and Pieta’ 19, Zurrieq and Gudja 17, Sirens 16, Zebbug 13, Fgura and St. Andrews 9, Senglea 6, Lija 8 and Mtarfa 4.
