Hamrun hit six past Marsaxlokk

Hamrun Spartans came from behind to beat Marsaxlokk 6-1 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

Ironically the Southseasiders forged ahead with the Spartans turning the score in their favour with a Raphael Lopes hat-trick and eventually scoring another three goals. This was the first defeat for Marsaxlokk after eleven positive results.

Marsaxlokk managed to take the lead on 20 minutes when Alex Tanque received a through ball on the right and concluded a good run by rounding a defender before beating Bonello with a fine diagonal shot from the edge of the area.

Hamrun equalised six minutes later when off a cross by Talison from the right, Raphael Lopez headed home past goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak.

The Spartans made it 2-1 on 37 minutes when Talison served Raphael Lopes inside the area and the latter managed to beat Drobnjak from close range.

Nine minutes in the second half, the Spartans scored the third goal when  following a good run on the left, Luke Montebello served Raphael Lopes who rounded two defenders before slotting the ball past the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper. 

Hamrun made it 4-1 on 69 minutes courtesy of Talison who intercepted a pass by Nikolai Muscat from the left and beat Drobnjak with a shot from the edge of the area.   

Six minutes from time, Eder scored Hamrun’s fifth, anticipating a defender and hitting home from close range following a cross by Montebello from the left. 

Luke Montebello made it 6-1 with a direct freekick from the right which saw the ball end in the top right corner.
