Birzebbuga St. Peter’s keep marching on in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Attard 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Lee Joe Schembri put the Saints ahead on 23 minutes and although Nigel Spiteri equalised on the 64th, Yusuf Abdullahi Sulaiman notched the winner on the 77th.
At the Charles Abela Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars defeated Rabat Ajax 4-1. Godwin Emmanuel put the Stars ahead on 9 minutes and Paul Odunayo Aderibigbe doubled the score three minutes later. Emmanuel scored another two goals on 40 and 49 minutes with Jake Cordina reducing the gap for the Magpies on the 68th.
Goals by Leon Borg on the 7th and Jordan Sampson on the 71st handed Qormi a 2-0 win over Qrendi at the Sirens Stadium.
Pembroke Athleta defeated Msida St. Joseph 4-2 at the Sirens Stadium. Denzel Camilleri put Msida ahead on 15 minutes but Jordan Vella equalised four minutes from the end of the first half. Thomas Grima scored twice on 55 and 62 minutes and although Luke Camilleri converted a penalty on 66 minutes for Msida, Pembroke sealed the issue with a fourth goal on 88 minutes.
Zejtun Corinthians registered their first win as a goal by Francisco Arriagada on 62 minutes handed them a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Charles Abela Stadium.
In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and San Gwann shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw. Richmond Baratuipre Hanson handed Xghajra a two-goal lead with goals on 6 and 25 minutes. Matteo Vella reduced the gap on 50 minutes but Raylon Kaylon Paisley scored a third goal for Xghajra three minutes later. Ryan Muscat reduced the gap once again for San Gwann on 64 minutes and Denilson Borg notched the equaliser four minutes in added time.
Birzebbuga lead the way with 28 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 25, San Gwann 23, Luqa, Xghajra and Attard 21, Qrendi and Qormi 18, Mellieha and Kirkop 12, Pembroke 9, Zejtun 5, Gharghur and Rabat 3, Msida and Marsaskala 2.
