FC Kaiserslautern, currently holding a training camp in Malta, invited former Malta captain Michael Mifsud to visit their training session at the Malta FA Training Grounds in Ta’ Qali today. Mifsud, Malta’s most representative football player with 143 appearances, had a two-and-a-half year spell with FC Kaiserslautern, then playing in the top tier of German football, in the early years of his career.
Mifsud was warmly welcomed by the FC Kaiserslautern delegation, led by club CEO Thomas Hengen and head coach Markus Anfang who both know the former Malta forward from his time with the German club.
Renowned for their great attachment to the club, a sizeable group of supporters, including families, have made their way to Malta to follow FC Kaiserslautern’s training camp.
Mifsud mingled with the fans who grabbed the opportunity to take a photo with the former striker who turned out for FC Kaiserslautern between 2001 and 2004. FC Kaiserslautern are celebrating their 125th anniversary this year.
