IZIBET Amateur League 2: Rondinely brace hands Victoria Hotspurs eleventh win

Victoria Hotspurs maintained their perfect record in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 as they came from behind to beat Kalkara United 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday.

Just before the end of the first half, a Kalkara player sustained an injury and the game had to stop for around twenty five minutes and twenty two minutes in added time, Jean Claude Annati put them ahead. However, Rondinely scored twice on 53 and 73 minutes to hand the Hotspurs the three points.

Mqabba are now alone in second place as they defeated Ghaxaq 4-2 in another match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Aaron Agius put Ghaxaq ahead on 4 minutes. Saturday Nanapere equalised five minutes in the second half and although Antonello Demanuele restored the lead for Ghaxaq, an Andres Tenorio penalty restored equilibrium. Neil Demanuele scored twice for Mqabba on 78 and 90 minutes to hand them victory.

Dingli Swallows were held in a 1-1 draw by Ta’ Xbiex at the Sirens Stadium. Clayton Mifsud put Ta’ Xbiex ahead on 23 minutes but Andie Sammut equalised four minutes later.

Goals by Jaden Camilleri on the 59th and Kurt Zahra on the 88th handed St. George’s a 2-0 win over Siggiewi at the Sirens Stadium.

In another match, Mdina Knights defeated Santa Venera Lightnings 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Kane Micallef on the 54th and Matthew Borg four minutes later.

Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with 33 points, followed by Mqabba on 25, Dingli 23, St. George’s 20, Kalkara 19, Siggiewi 16, Mdina 12, Ghaxaq 8, Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Sta. Venera 0.
