Following an impressive 2-0 win over Floriana, Melita earned another precious point in a 1-1 draw against Birkirkara in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
BirkirkaraThis second successive draw puts Birkirkara in fifth place, two points behind leaders Hamrun Spartans and one behind Marsaxlokk, Sliema and Zabbar while Melita follow in joint-sixth place on four points.
Melita took the lead on 3 minutes when he took full advantage of some hesitation by Kurt Bondin in clearing the ball into safety and advanced into the area, rounding the goalkeeper and placing it at the back of the net.
Melita, however, levelled matters on 15 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Alessandro Coppola floored Andre inside the area and from the penalty spot, Alan Borg Olivier made no mistake.
