Marsaxlokk bounced back from last week’s defeat to Mosta as they scored late to beat Gzira United 1-0 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.
A win which puts the Southseasiders on top, at least temporarily, one point ahead of Floriana and Hamrun Spartans. Gzira, on the other hand, remain joint-third from bottom.
Marsaxlokk scored the all-important goal on 80 minutes when off an assist by Dodo from the right Juan Carlos Corbalan headed the ball home past goalkeeper Giulio Mangano.
Five minutes in added time, substitute Duvan Torres was sent off for Marsaxlokk.
