BOV Challenge League: Swieqi alone in second place

Swieqi United strengthened their challenge for promotion as they defeated Zurrieq 3-1 in a match from the BOV Challengers League Top 6 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday. 

Sulahmana Mamadu Bah put Zurrieq ahead on 9 minutes  but Aleksandar Katanic scored twice on 10 and 13 minutes to turn the score in Swieqi’s favour. Blessing Brafo sealed the issue with a third goal nine minutes from time. 

In a match at the Centenary Stadium, Santa Lucia and Mgarr United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, an own goal on 49 minutes for Mgarr and a goal by Azriel Borg for Santa Lucia on 68 minutes. 

In the Play-Out, Fgura United defeated Zebbug Rangers 5-1. Donys Quimtero put Fgura ahead on 48 minutes and seven minutes later, Alan Abdel Rahman doubled the score. Isiah Micallef made it 3-0 on 74 minutes and although Duvan Mosquera pulled one back on 84 minutes, goals by Abdel Rahman and Micallef on 87 and 88 minutes respectively handed Fgura a comfortable win. 

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, St. Andrews defeated Lija Athletic 2-0 thanks to gaols by Cali Correa on 9 minutes and Mattia Galliano on 54 minutes. 

Sirens were held in a 1-1 draw by Mtarfa in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a penalty by Carlos Chaba for Sirens on 32 minutes and a goal by Joseph Chilaka Agbakwuru  for Mtarfa on 69 minutes.
