Gzira United defeated Hamrun Spartans 1-0 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans therefore missed the opportunity to take sole leadership following Floriana’s 2-2 draw with Mosta and now trail by one point to the same Floriana, Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk. Gzira, on the other hand, are now sixth on 11 points, one behind Hibernians and one ahead of Zabbar and Mosta.

Substitute Thaylor scored the all-important goal six minutes from the end of the first half, hitting home off the rebound after Diogo Barbosa had an attempt which was blocked.
