Pieta’ Hotspurs, Tarxien Rainbows, Valletta and Zurrieq are the semi-finalists of the BOV Challenge Cup as they emerged as winners from the quarter-finals which were held on Saturday.
At the Centenary Stadium, BOV Challenge League champions Valletta found no difficulty in beating Lija Athletic 6-0. James Scicluna put Valletta ahead on 3 minutes and Andrei Ciolacu doubled the score on 19 minutes. Six minutes from the end of the first half, Andrea Zammit made it 3-0. Zak Barbara scored twice on 47 and 71 minutes with Paul Lapira adding another ten minutes from time.










At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Pieta’ Hotspurs notched the winner in the dying minutes to defeat Marsa 3-2. Arthur Stelmach handed Pieta’ the lead on 6 minutes but five minutes later, Claudir equalised. Kian Leonardi restored the lead just before the end of the first half but Renan Sgaria levelled matters on 66 minutes. However Stelmach scored again on the 90th to make it 3-2.
Goals by Glamaour Eziefula Chibueze on 42 minutes and Sulahmana Mamadu Bah on 68 minutes handed Zurrieq a 2-0 win over Santa Lucia at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
On the oher hand Tarxien Rainbows beat Mgarr United 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium. Dacosta Boadu put Tarxien ahead on 16 minutes with Dejan Vukovic equalising three minutes from the end of the first half. Claudio Murici made it 2-1 on the hour and one minute from time, Zachary Brincat added another. Mgarr reduced the gap in added time through Kyle Frendo.
In the semi-finals, scheduled for Thursday at the Centenary Stadium, Zurrieq face Valletta while Tarxien Rainbows take on Pieta’ Hotspurs. Matches will kick-off at 18:15 and 20:45 respectively.
