Valletta, Pieta’ Hotspurs reach BOV Challenge Cup final

Valletta and Pieta’ Hotspurs will be contesting the final of the BOV Challenge Cup at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 16:00, after they emerged as winners in the two semi-finals which were played on Thursday.

In the first semi-final, Valletta defeated Zurrieq 3-2.

Jefferson put the Citizens ahead on 9 minutes but Zurrieq turned the score in their favour with goals by Glamour Ebiefula Chiebueze on 25 minutes and Sulahmana Mamadu Bah on 43 minutes. However, Jacob Walker equalised seven minutes from time and Enoch Mushagalusa notched the winner for Valletta four minutes in added time.

In the other semi-final, Pieta’ Hotspurs defeated Challenge League runners-up Tarxien Rainbows 2-1.

A penalty by Kian Leonardi put the Hotspurs ahead on 26 minutes and a penalty by Arthur Stelmach doubled the score on 78 minutes. Tarxien reduced the gap three minutes in added time through Conor Borg.
