Zabbar St. Patrick secured their status in the 360Sports Malta Premier as they defeated Melita 2-0 in a match from the Bottom 6 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Monday.
A result which condemns Melita to the relegation play-out as they are now sure of finishing bottom of the table in the Bottom 6. Their opponents will be one team between Balzan and Naxxar Lions, depending on which team will end third from bottom following the direct clash between the two – the two teams which had ended their commitments in the Opening Round in the bottom two places. The team which finishes second from bottom will be relegated automatically.
Zabbar took the lead on 45 minutes when Diogo Tavares sent Marcelo Santos through on the right and the latter slotted the ball past goalkeeper Gosef Mizzi.
The Saints doubled the score on 72 minutes when Marc Van De Font Bovenkamp lost the ball when pressed by David Oliveira on the right and Diogo Tavares advanced into the area before slotting the ball past the Melita custodian.
