Lija Athletic won the Enemed Women’s Futsal League after defeating Swieqi United 4-1 in the third play-off final.

Swieqi had won the first match 2-1 but Lija won the second match 3-1.

Jackie Abdilla’s team started well and went ahead after just a minute through Ylenia Azzopardi.

Swieqi United reacted well and equalized with a precise and powerful free kick by Amy Abdilla.

Before the end of the first half, Lija went ahead again through Izabella Camilleri with the first half ending 2-1.

Lija Athletic were clearly a better side in the second half as they scored two more goals from Hailey Russell and Jasmine Vella Turner.

At the end of the match Lija Athletic captain Jasmine Vella Turner was presented with the cup by FMA vice-presidents Nathan Jones and Kurt Rizzo.
