Gzira United earned a precious point in the battle against relegation as they held Birkirkara in a goalless draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
The Maroons join Balzan on the 30-point mark, four ahead of Santa Lucia, six ahead of Mosta and nine ahead of Valletta. Balzan, Mosta and Valletta have a game in hand. Birkirkara, on the other hand, join Hibernians in fifth place, three behind Marsaxlokk.
Both teams had their fair share of scoring opportunities with the Maroons going close to making the lead two minutes from the end of the first half when Lucas Macula hit the upright with a header.
In the final stages, Gzira, once again missed a great scoring opportunity with Brooklyn Borg hitting wide from an ideal position inside the area in the dying minutes.
