Hamrun Spartans celebrate championship with a draw with Hibernians

Hamrun Spartans celebrated the tenth championship title in the history of the club as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Hibernians at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Spartans took the lead on the 5th minute when off a cross by Ryan Camenzuli from the left, Jonny hit hard past Hugo Sacco from the right. 

Jonny almost made it 2-0 on the 15th when he received the ball on the right but his conclusion was deflected by Izquier into a corner.  Eight minutes later, Uros Djuranovic had a shot from inside the area neutralised by Sacco.

Five minutes from the end of the first half, Hibernians levelled matters when off a cross from the right by Kurt Shaw, Rodney Antwi anticipated Marchetti to place the ball at the back of the net. 

Ten minutes in the second half, Uros Djuranovic tried his luck with a shot from outside the area ending high. On the other side of the pitch, Rodney Antwi headed wide off a cross by Bairam from the right on 67 minutes. Three minutes later, Giannis Bastianos headed just wide off a cross by Shaw.

After the game, Hamrun were presented with the trophy by MFA President Bjorn Vassallo and Bank of Valletta Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Farrugia.
