In the first match, Zejtun Corinthians defeated St. Patrick 3-1 in a clash between two teams who were promoted from Division 2 last season.

A brace by Kenneth Abela and a goal by Albanian striker Gers Delia put the Corinthians three goals ahead before Jurgen Farrugia pulled one back for St. Patrick.

Dingli Swallows defeated St. Andrews 2-1 in the second game. William Camilleri put the Saints ahead but Mauro Brincat and Steve Meilak turned defeat into victory for the Swallows.
