Second-half goals hand Gudja 3-0 win over Santa Lucia

After suffering back-to-back defeats to Balzan and Zebbug Rangers, Gudja United returned to winning ways as they scored three in the second half to beat Santa Lucia 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts them in joint-sixth place with Balzan on 27 points but the latter have a game in hand.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, remain second from bottom on eight points, two behind Zebbug and seven behind Marsaxlokk.

Nicholas Pulis was missing for Santa Lucia while Gudja could not count on the suspended Andre Prates and Hubert Vella.

Following a goalless first half, Gudja took the lead on the 51st minute thanks to an angled shot by Tatsuro Nagamatsu which gave goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona no chance.

Gudja doubled the score on the 78th when they were awarded a penalty after Matias Muchardi was brought down inside the area by Rodolfo Soares and from the penalty spot, Vito Plut made no mistake.

Five minutes later, Muchardi provided Tatsuro Nagamatsu with a perfect assist and the latter beat the Santa Lucia once again for a final 3-0 score.
