Over hundred participants in Sockids Summer School

The closing activity for David Carabott’s Sockids Summer School was held last week. During the Sockids Summer School more than 100 children between the ages of 5 and 15 attended. They were divided into 5 groups according to age.
The aim of the Sockids Summer School was to learn the basic skills of soccer and at the same time have fun. Training sessions were held during the months of July and August.
During the closing activity the kids were addressed by coach David Carabott who stressed on the importance to do physical activity to keep the body and mind healthy.
The guest of honour for this activity was The Malta Youth FA President Fr Hilary Tagliaferro. Fr Hilary spoke about how about 30 years ago he had a ten-year old David Carabott as part of his group at Centre Sport Edukattiv, the same way that the children were today. He encouraged kids to be disciplined in all the things they do in life being sport, school and, later on, family and work. He concluded by saying that by being disciplined they could achieve what David achieved in his soccer career.
After his speech, Fr Hilary distributed the sockids certificates to all the participants. The activity came to an end with the presentation of a memento to Fr Hilary from one of the kids of the Sockids Soccer School.
Applications are now being accepted for the forthcoming season. Training sessions will be held by David Carabott at Birkirkara, Zejtun and Marsaxlokk grounds. All sessions will be held on artificial turf pitches.
