The Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery is once again organising the Christmas Football Tournament between the 26th and the 30th December. This is the 19th year that the Birkirkara Youth Nursery is organising such a tournament which has now established itself as one of the most important tournaments in youth football.
The draws of the 19th Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery Christmas Tournament were held at the nursery premises on Wednesday 16^th December 2009.
After an introductory speech, Nursery Chairman Henry Bray stated that it is a great honour for Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery to organise its 19th Christmas Tournament. He emphasized the importance of fair play during these five days of the tournament. The tournament should be a football festival. Delegates, parents and coaches should not exert extra pressure on the players. Henry Bray thanked Eurosport and Gatorade the sponsors of the tournament.
The draw was attended by Nurseries delegates. There are 10 teams that are going to participate in the Under 14 and 6 teams in the Under 12.
The draws were as follows: Under 14
Group A: Sliema W., Birkirkara F.C., St. Patrick F.C., San Gwann F.C. and Floriana F.C.
Group B: Hamrun S., Paola Hibs, Valletta F.C., Pembroke Ath. and Pieta H.
Group 1: Pieta H., San Gwann F.C. and Birkirkara F.C.
Group 2: Valletta F.C., Hamrun S. and Paola Hibs.
The tournament kicks off on December 26 at 9.00am. There will be a march pass by all the participating nurseries from the St. Mary Church on Sunday 27th December at 9.00am accompanied by St. Helen’s Band and Ronald Mcdonald. The Official opening ceremony will follow at the Infetti Training Grounds.
A special donation of 2 Euros from each participant will go in aid of the Puttinu Cares Foundation to continue its support and financially assist to those families who have children who are being treated due to cancer.
