St. Patrick FC have set up an exhibition to mark the club’s hundredth anniversary at the Zabbar Local Council Hall. The exhibition, which was set-up by Manuel Gauci, was inaugurated by former president and chairman of the organising committee Alfred Portelli.
President Dr Josie Muscat praised this initiative as it gives a clear image of football in Zabbar over the past hundred years. Mayor Domnic Agius mentioned another initiative by the organising committee – a drawing competition for children attending St. Margaret College Zabbar Primary A.
Present for the inauguration was a player who was a member of the team which won promotion to the First Division for the first time in 1949/50. The player – Fabri – is now 84 years old.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 13:00 and between 16:00 and 19:00 and on Saturdays and Sundays between 09:00 and noon. The exhibition is open until March 18.
Another activity to mark this anniversary is a reception for former players, coaches, presidents and secretaries which will be held on Friday 16th March. On Sunday 18, a thanksgiving mass will be held and then a commemorative plaque will be unveiled at the club premises.
