Balzan seek win as they target top-six finish

Balzan will be all out to claim the three points on Sunday as they take on Rabat Ajax in one of the two BOV Premier League in programme at the Hibernians Stadium.

In fact, two wins over Qormi and Melita put them just five points behind Sliema Wanderers who lost their last two matches and six behind Tarxien Rainbows and Mosta. A win would therefore put them just two points behind the Wanderers.

Rabat Ajax are still anchored at the bottom of the table and are coming from a highly disappointing 1-3 defeat to Hamrun Spartans. Apart from the usual Adam Smeir, Christopher Schembri and Ryan Micallef, the Magpies could not count on Clive Brincat, Yan Cauchi and the suspended Patrick Borg for Sunday’s game.

Balzan, on the other hand, should have two new strikers in squad Ryan Darmanin and Firas Aboulezz who joined the club earlier this week.

In the first round, Balzan beat Rabat 2-0.

In the second match, Floriana take on Melita.

The Greens collected three points from the last four matches and hope to collect more precious points from this match although they know it will be no easy match, considering they held them in a 2-2 draw in teh first round.

Melita are coming from a 0-4 defeat to Balzan last week and now hope not to leave the Hibernians Stadium empty-handed as they hope to keep the pace with Hamrun Spartans.

The AMateurs welcome back Michael Valenzia and Nigel Rizzo after a long ban but Luke Sammut is suspended. Julian Galea is ruled out injured. For Floriana, Ryan Darmanin is no longer available after joining Balzan but they should have back in the starting line-up, Igor Coronado, after serving a one-match ban.
