Hibernians claim Women's Super Cup

Hibernians FCHibernians won the Women’s Super Cup after defeating champions and knock-out winners Birkirkara 2-1 after extra-time on Wednesday.

The Paolites, who finished third last season, replaced runners-up and knock-out finalists Mosta after the latter withdrew their participation from the women’s competitions.

Rachel Cuschieri put the Stripes ahead but a brace by Ylenia Carabott handed Hibernians the first honour of the season. Carabott levelled matters to force extra-time and two minutes from the end of the second half of extra-time, converted a penalty.

After the final, Hibs captain Dionne Tonna was presented with the cup by MFA senior vice-president Ludovico Micallef.
