Gilbert Agius ban reduced to three matches

gilbert-agiusThe Appeals Board of the Malta Football Association reduced a one-year ban to Valletta assistant coach Gilbert Agius to three matches after hearing evidence by the referee and fourth official, Naxxar Lions coach Winston Muscat and team manager David Vella and viewed video evidence.

Agius had been banned for one year as according to the match report, he had intentionally bumped into the Naxxar coach. However in giving his evidence, Muscat said that there was only slight contact between them and this was definitely not violent.

The Board said that the incident amounts to ungentlemanly conduct and therefore reduced the ban to three matches and fined him €40.

This reduction also means that he is immediately eligible to play for Xewkija Tigers in the Melita First Division in Gozo and lead the Valletta youths team in the Youth League as coach since only term-suspensions.
