Hibernians, Floriana cross swords in BOV Super Cup final

The first honour of the season will be at stake on Thursday afternoon as BOV Premier League champions Hibernians take on Izibet FA Trophy winners Floriana in the 36th edition of the BOV Super Cup at the Gozo Stadium, kick-off at 16:00.

The two teams are having mixed fortunes this season. The Paolites are currently second on 24 points, seven behind leaders Hamrun Spartans while Floriana are currently seventh on 19 points. They are yet to meet this season and ironically the BOV Premier League first round clash between the two will take place at the National Stadium on Monday.

Hibernians won the Super Cup three times, defeating Floriana on penalties in 1994, Marsaxlokk 3-1 in 2007 and Birkirkara in 2015. Floriana, on the other hand, won the competition in 1993 when they defeated Valletta 4-1 and 2017 when they beat Hibernians 1-0.

Tickets for the North Stand are still available for sale from https://tickets.mfa.com.mt or from the designated ticket booths at the Gozo Stadium. Gates open at 14:00

Between 11:00 and 14:00, it-Tokk in Rabat will be bustling with activity related to this competition.  PBS Presenter Dorianne Mamo will be hosting the entertainment side, whereas Gozitan legends Shaun Bajada, Steve Sultana, Ann Marie Said and Chris Camilleri will be joined by Haley Bugeja and lead the penalty shoot-out.  Freebies will be handed out and it will surely be a memorable activity for young and old.  The BOV Premier League Cup and the IZIBET FA Trophy will be on display at it-Tokk and people can take selfies and photos next to the trophy.

Since parking near the Gozo Stadium is limited and the Malta FA has teamed up with the Malta Public Transport to offer park and ride services.  Supporters can leave their cars at the Gozo heliport in Xewkija or at the Victoria Bus terminus and a free shuttle service will offer regular and frequent trips to the Gozo Stadium and back after the game.

The trips will start at 14:00 and leave every half hour to the stadium, until 15:30, and back after the game.  The return trips leave the Gozo Stadium at 17:45.
