Gzira United FC continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Brazilian twenty nine year old forward André Carlos Penha da Costa.

This will be the third Maltese club for Andre after spending the first part of season 2022/23 with Zejtun Corinthians and the last two years with Melita. In his native Brazil, Andre played for Globo FC, CE Força e Luz, CA Potengi, Cruzeiro FC, Palmeira FC, Fast Clube, Aruko Sports/Galo Maringá, Bandeirantes EC and Clube Andraus Brasil.

The Maroons, who had earlier appointed Clive Mizzi as their new coach, have so far signed Marc Van de Bovenkamp Font, Jork Becerra, Maxuell Samurai, Santiago Martinez and David Xuereb with Jackson Mendoza and Thaylor Aldama moving elsewhere.
