U*BET FA Trophy third round draws: Holders Hibernians face Mosta

Holders Hibernians will be facing Premier League side Mosta in the third round of the U*BET FA Trophy. BOV Premier League leaders Valletta take on Hamrun Spartans, Birkirkara meet Tarxien Rainbows while Melita face Floriana. The draws were held by MFA Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Vassallo and Maltco Lotteries General Director Vasileos Kasiotakis at the MFA Technical Centre, Ta’ Qali on Monday.

Six teams were seeded, namely Hibernians, Valletta, Sliema Wanderers, Balzan, Birkirkara and Floriana. However Hibs, Valletta, Birkirkara and Floriana ended up meeting Premier League teams. On the other hand, Sliema Wanderers were paired with BOV Second Division leaders Zebbug Rangers while Balzan were drawn with Naxxar Lions from Division 1.

Meanwhile Rabat Ajax were paired with First Division side Pietà Hotspurs and Qormi with Pembroke Athleta from Division 2.

First Division sides Gzira United and Zejtun Corinthians will be facing Gozitans SK Victoria Wanderers and Nadur Youngsters respectively, Lija Athletic, St. Andrews and Mqabba take on teams from Division 2, namely Gharghur, Msida St. Joseph and Zurrieq respectively while Gudja United face Third Division side Senglea Athletic.

The other Gozitan side Sannat Lions were paired with Second Division side St. Patrick while St. Venera Lightings from Division 2 take on Division 3 side Marsaskala.

Third round matches will be played on Friday 30th November, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December.
