Main sponsor helps Balzan Youths strengthen squad

In the January transfer window, Balzan Youths have strengthened the squad by signing Martin Deyanov and Anthony Eviparker for the rest of the current season. Both players were included in the Balzan squad to face Mqabba and Sliema Wanderers.

President Mr. George Borg said that the new players were signed thanks to the continued support of Balzan’s major sponsor, Sydney-based fund manager Investors Mutual which is owned by Maltese-born Anton Tagliaferro – an ex player of Balzan.

Mr. Tagliaferro said “I am very happy to continue to support Balzan and am very proud of the way the club is performing in its first season back in the Premier Division. I am very keen for Balzan to establish a strong foothold in the Premier Division in Malta”

Mr. Tagliaferro added that “I am also very keen to establish Balzan as on of the best Nurseries in Malta. In 2011 we were able to bring AC Milan youth coach Elio Garavaglia to train our young players at our new facilties. I am currently arranging for further AC Milan coaches to come to Balzan to assist our Head Youth coach Silvan Ciscaldi in the excellent work that Silvan is doing there.”

“Silvan was a guest coach of the AC Milan Academy in Sydney in 2011 working alongside ex AC Milan player Andrea Icardi and the trip really helped Silvan in his development into a professional youth coach. I am keen for Silvan to visit us again as well as to be a guest of AC Milan in Italy in 2012. One of the club’s priorities for the next 12 months is to attract the best young players to our Nursery. It was great to see four of the Balzan’s first squad players be recently selected for the Malta Under-19 squad and this is certainly a step in the right direction for the club.”

Investors Mutual is one of Australia’s top performing fund managers with over $2 billion in funds under management and Mr. Tagliaferro will feature in a book to be published in 2012 entitled “The Top 100 investors in the World” alongside well known investment personalities such as Warren Buffet and George Soros.
