The Malta Football Players Association has been invited to attend the plenary meeting of the Social Dialogue Professional Football that will take place in Brussels on Thursday 19th April. The meeting will be followed by the signing ceremony of the Autonomous Agreement regarding the Minimum Requirements for Standard Player Contracts in Professional Football.
The meeting will convene representatives of the players unions form countries forming part of UEFA, FIFPro, ECA (European Clubs Association), EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues), UEFA and the EC (European Commission).
MFPA General Secretary, Mr. Carlo Mamo commented “Its a great opportunity to further our international relations and continue with the dialogue. The MFPA is honoured to attend this ceremony. Unfortunately however at a local level discussions with the representatives of the clubs and MFA have progressed, albeit slowly. The dialogue is good and we resolved all differences relating to our recognition as local player representatives some time ago, yet we are not recognised formally – its a pity cause MFPA has much to contribute to Maltese football. The clubs and MFA are being shortsighted and the recognition we have at international level confirms this, as well as events like the ceremony we are attending. We look forward to recognition as this will enable us to contribute to a much larger measure to the good of the local game!”
The MFPA will be represented by Mr. Carlo Mamo.
