Hibernians target fourth successive win

rabat-hibs120916Hibernians will be all out to maintain their hundred per cent record as they take on Rabat Ajax in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday. Champions Birkirkara and Valletta also start as favourites to take home the three points.

Hibernians vs Rabat A. – kick-off 17:00 (National Stadium)
Hibs start as firm favourites to beat Rabat Ajax who are still seeking their first points after three matches. The Paolites defeated Tarxien, Valletta and Vittoriosa while Rabat lost to Birkirkara, Balzan and Mosta.

Rabat coach Steve D’Amato cannot field his best formation due to the absence of Dylan Falzon, Joseph Caruana and Adam Smeir while Jonathan Pearson is ruled out for Hibernians as he serves a one-match ban.

Qormi vs Valletta – kick-off 19:00 (National Stadium)
Valletta aim for a second consecutive win after beating rivals Floriana 3-0 in their last outing. Qormi seek another positive result following a fine 6-2 win over Tarxien Rainbows two weeks ago after losing the first two matches to Sliema and Naxxar.

Edmond Agius returns for the Citizens after serving a two-match ban but Denni is still suspended. Qormi, on the other hand, are expected to be in full strength.

Floriana vs Vittoriosa S. – kick-off 17:00 (Victor Tedesco Stadium)
Floriana and Vittoriosa both seek their first win after collecting one point from three matches. Floriana lost to Tarxien and Floriana after a 1-1 draw in their first outing with Naxxar while Vittoriosa held Balzan in a draw but then lost to Mosta and Hibernians. However the Greens lie at the bottom of the table with minus five points.

Floriana coach Ian Dawes should have the full squad at his disposal but Vittoriosa mentor Oliver Spiteri could not count on the injured Luke Vella Critien, Sheldon Grech and Roberto Brincat.

Mosta vs Birkirkara – kick-off 19:15 (Victor Tedesco Stadium)
Mosta hope to upset Birkirkara after claiming two wins out of the first three matches, defeating Vittoriosa and Rabat. The Stripes defeated Rabat and Balzan, dropping their only points in a draw with Sliema.

Jhonnattann should be back in the starting line-up for Birkirkara after returning from Brazil but new signing Daniel Zerafa is still recovering from an injury. Mosta coach Danilo Doncic, on the other hand, has no injury concerns.
