SK Victoria Wanderers maintained the challenge for the title thanks to a most dramatic 3-2 win over Kercem Ajax on Sunday.
Kercem seemed heading for victory as a penalty by Joseph Chetcuti on the 14th minute and a goal by Mario Mifsud two minutes from the end of the first half put them two goals ahead. New signing Daniel Bogdanovic pulled one back for the Wanderers eleven minutes in the second half. One minute in added time, Fernando Giarrizzo levelled matters and Eric Chidi Nwankwo notched the winner on the 93rd.
In another match, Nadur Youngsters defeated Oratory Youths 2-1. Josef Buttigieg put Nadur ahead on 23 minutes. Johann Attard equalised eight minutes from time but one minute in added time, Milos Stojanovic secured the three points for the Youngsters.
On Saturday, the match between Victoria Hotspurs and Munxar Falcons was postponed due to heavy rain.
Xewkija Tigers lead the way with 30 points, followed by Nadur on 29, SKVW on 28, Kercem 21, Victoria Hotspurs 20, Oratory 13, Xaghra and Munxar 3.
In the Melita Second Division, the game between Sannat Lions and Qala Saints was abandoned for the same reason after 57 minutes with Qala leading 1-0.
On the other hand, on Thursday, Ghajnsielem beat Zebbug Rangers 3-1. Pedro Adame Calderon put the Rangers ahead but a brace by Joseph Attard and a goal by Charlon Tabone handed the Blacks the three points.
St. Lawrence lead the way with 23 points, followed by Ghajnsielem on 22, Sannat 19, Zebbug 10, Qala and Gharb 8.
