FIFA Live Your Goals Festival for Little Women on Women’s Day

On the 8th of March 2016, for International Women’s Day, the MFA Technical Centre’s Grassroots & Women’s Sector organised the now-established FIFA Live Your Goals festival at the Centenary Stadium, as part of their mission to develop women’s football at grassroots level.

A total of 190 primary school girls participated in this festival, with the MFA hosting St. Dorothy’s Junior School Sliema and St. Joan Antide Gudja. This open day was held as part of the MFA’s project in increasing girls in the grassroots accordingly this open day was ideal in order to introduce football to girls seeing as only 4% of the participants are enrolled in a Football Nursery.

The girls were under the guidance of qualified MFA coaches, National Team players and Club coaches where the MFA hopes that the girls were enticed to the game through the fun activities, team games organised and valuable sportsmanship values.

“This was an amazing outing!”
“The best part of this outing? Football!”
This was the response gathered from some of the participants. Moreover, the teachers also praised the professional organization of this Festival.

The Live Your Goals campaign is organised by the MFA Technical Centre’s Grassroots & Women’s Sector under the auspices of FIFA. Expressions of thanks are extended to the football governing body for their continuous support to women’s football in Malta.

The MFA Technical Centre would like to thank the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education (DQSE), Secretariat for Catholic Education, participating schools, Club coaches, players, MFA staff and volunteers for their cooperation and enthusiastic participation in sharing their vision of developing women’s football at grassroots level and looks forward optimistically to its next events.
