Xewkija Tigers BOV Gozo Football League First Division champions

Xewkija Tigers were declared champions in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division following a goalless draw with Nadur Youngsters at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday which ensured they stay one point ahead of their rivals.

Horace Laudi – Regional Manager for Gozo at Bank of Valletta and Samuel Azzopardi – President of the Gozo Football Association presented the trophy to the champions

In another match on Sunday, Kercem Ajax defeated Ghajnsielem 3-0 thanks to goals by Trayo Grozev on the 39th, Gustavo Franca Amadio on the 67th and Petar Kyumyurdzhiev one minute in added time.

On Friday, SK Victoria Wanderers beat bottom-placed Xaghra United 5-2. Sam Harland put the Wanderers ahead on the 7th minute but a brace by Daniel Sowatey on the 21st and the 27th put Xaghra 2-1 ahead. Eight minutes in the second half, Predrag Djordjevic converted a penalty to level matters. Igor Grkajac scored twice on the 59th and 64th with Dylan Mercieca adding another on the 75th.

In another match, Victoria Hotspurs beat neighbours Oratory Youths 3-0 thanks to a brace by Henrique Maciel on the 7th and 61st and a goal by Jonathan Bajada on the 83rd.

Xewkija ended their commitments on 48 points, followed by Nadur on 47, Ghajnsielem 39, Kercem 31, Victoria Hotspurs 30, Oratory 23, SK Victoria Wanderers 16 and Xaghra 2.

Xaghra will be playing in Division 2 next season while SK Victoria Wanderers will be facing St. Lawrence Spurs in a play-off.
