Mellieha and Marsaxlokk registered their first win in the BOV Second Division at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Mellieha defeated Kalkara 4-2 – the first defeat for Kalkara after two wins in their first two outings. Mark Saliba put Mellieha ahead on the 1st minute but Timothy Thomas equalised on the 8th and Emmanuel Essien Mbong made it 2-1 on the 57th. Mattei Vella restored equilibrium on the 64th and goals by Jordan Debattista on the 80th and Michael Micallef two minutes in added time handed Mellieha the three points.
In another match, a penalty by Alan Tabone ten minutes from time handed Marsaxlokk a narrow win over Zabbar St. Patrick.
Kalkara lead the way with 6 points, followed by Zurrieq, Xghajra, Melita and Mellieha on 4, Marsaxlokk 3, Marsa, Rabat and San Gwann 2, Zabbar, Mgarr, Luqa and Birzebbuga 1.
