Zejtun Corinthians registered a fourth consecutive positive result as they defeated Senglea Athletic 3-1 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts them in eleventh place, one point ahead of Floriana and four ahead of Balzan.
Senglea, on the other hand, suffered the fourteenth defeat in sixteen matches to remain anchored at the bottom of the table with two points.
Zejtun took the lead on the 33rd minute when Jurgen Suda sent Vitor Vieira through on the right and the latter slotted past the Senglea custodian with an angled shot.
Six minutes from the end of the first half, Żejtun doubled the score. Vitor Vieira concluded a good run on the left flank with a cross for Kemar Reid who tapped the ball home from close range.
Senglea reduced the gap on 64 minutes. Freud Gnindokponou served Jan Tanti who beat Żejtun goalkeeper Christian Cassar with a fine rising shot from outside the area.
However, three minutes later, the Corinthians restored the two-goal lead. Jurgen Suda delivered a cross from the right and Kemar Reid hit low past Farrugia.
