Hamrun, Birkirkara share spoils in goalless draw

Hamrun Spartans and Birkirkara shared the spoils in a goalless draw in a direct clash for third place at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

The Spartans therefore stay two points ahead of Birkirkara but lie three points behind second-placed Floriana and seven behind leaders Hibernians.

The two teams disappointed with shots at goal throughout the ninety minutes being few and far in between.

Arthur Oyama threatened goalkeeper Amara Sylla with two corners and El Bakhtaoui had a shot from outside the area ending wide. In the second half, Birkirkara had a good chance following a swift counter attackk led by Leandro Aguirre but Luke Montbello failed to control the ball inside the area. But the best opportunity fell at the feet of Joseph Mbong who concluded wide when faced by the Birkirakra goalkeeper.
