Marco Casarsa was presented to the media as the new Malta Beach Soccer Coach on Friday.
During his presentation, he spoke about his vision and objectives in his new role highlighting the potential that a country like Malta could have in Beach Soccer, also outlining his long term plans to see Beach Soccer in Malta improve.
He also noted the fact that due to the favourable climate in Malta, Beach Soccer, unlike in other European countries, can be practised all year round.

Casarsa declared, “My experience in Italy both as a player and as a coach (also playing several times for Italy), will surely assist me in my future endeavours with this team, which objectives are surely aligned with the strategy of the Malta FA to see Beach Soccer evolve and going forward improve our level of performance”.
Malta FA Beach Soccer Director Mark Marlow highlighted the importance and resolve to enrich the popularity of Beach Soccer in Malta, “It is our objective to compete at the highest level with the very best in Beach Soccer, notwithstanding the value of Beach Soccer in Malta in terms of Sports Tourism.
“Since the arrival of Mr Casarsa here in Malta we have already performed one training camp, with more to follow in the coming weeks so to be well prepared for the Euro Beach Soccer League Division B scheduled for the end of July in Moldova” Marlow commented.
The start of the domestic Nestle competition in the coming weeks will definitely aid the new Malta Beach Soccer coach to follow the players around, assess them better and define what is entailed for the way forward.
In his career Mr Casarsa has won the Beach Soccer European Championship in 2005, he is also three times winner of the Italian Championship between 2006 and 2010, a total of 61 caps for Mr Casarsa representing the Italian Beach Soccer Team.
The Press Conference was also addressed by Pio Vassallo in his role as Malta Beach Soccer President who gave a detailed overview and ongoing preparations for this year’s Nestle Ice Cream Beach Soccer League 2022.
Vassallo acknowledged, “The appointment of a new National Team coach shows the commitment of the Association in terms of raising the bar in this sport with a potential of attaining good results at the international level.
He also conveyed his pleasure that for yet another season a significant number of teams have enrolled in this year’s domestic competition and is confident in another positive campaign emulating last summer’s success, all happening at Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa.
The draws for this year’s Nestle Ice Cream Beach Soccer League 2022 will be made in the coming days lining up fixtures and scheduling for this year’s competition starting shortly.
