Valletta FC present new signings, new technical sponsor

Hudson will be the technical sponsor of Valletta FC through its leading brand Nike and Intersport franchise for the next seven years. The kits will be worn by the club’s senior and youth teams, all members of the Academy and club officials, and eventually by the youth sector. The new Nike kits were revealed along with the club’s new signings for season 2022/23 during a press conference on Thursday.

This summer, Thane Micallef has been appointed as their new coach. The former Pembroke Athleta and Gudja United coach replaces Danilo Doncic.

The new signings are Malta international midfielder Brandon Paiber, goalkeeper Cain Formosa, Enzo Ruiz, Kilian Bevis, Joseph Willy, Oke Akpoveta, Bradley Sheede Kamdem Fewo, Jean-Marie Ulrich N’Nomo N’Gong and Ryan Cheng.

Twenty-seven year old central midfielder Brandon Paiber played for CA Fenix de Pilar in Argentina and Comunicaciones FC in Guatemala after leaving Malta at an early age. He returned to Malta in 2018 to join Santa Lucia and moved to Floriana in January 2019 on loan, joining the Greens on a three-year deal in summer 2019.

A product of San Gwann, twenty-one year old goalkeeper Cain Formosa had a spell with Mdina Knights in 2017/18. He signed for Valletta last summer but spent one season on loan with San Gwann. He is also a goalkeeper within the national squad.

Thirty-three year old Argentine central defender Enzo Ruiz joins the club after playing for five years with Floriana and one year with Birkirkara. He had started his career with Boca Juniors in Argentina but had spells on loan with Union Espanola in Chile and CA Douglas Haig in Argentina. Before moving to Malta, he also played for CA Temperley and Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina.

Twenty-four year old French winger Kilian Bevis joins the Citizens from Birkirkara where he spent the last season. Before moving to Malta, he played for Castelvetro and FC Messina.

Twenty-five year old Nigerian forward Joseph Willy joins the club on loan from Swieqi United. He started his career with Iwere FC in Nigeria, joining Birkirkara in 2015 where he spent one season. He moved to Swieqi United in January 2020.

Thirty year old Nigerian forward Oke Akpoveta started his career with Warri Wolves in Nigeria but moved to Europe at an early age, turning out for Brondby IF, Bronshoj BK and Lyngby BK in Denmark, Ravan Baku and FK Sabail in Azerbaijan, IK Frej Taby, Dalkurd FF, Helsingborg, AFC Eskilstuna and Norrby IF in Sweden. He had a spell with Al Thoqbah in Saudi Arabia but moved back to Europe where he played for Kokkolan PV in Finland and Hoganas BK in Sweden.

Twenty-eight year old French Canadian left back Bradley Kamden played for Huntington Foresters at youth level and later for UNLV Rebels in the USA. He had a spell on loan with Calgary Foothills FC in Canada. Later, he was on the books of Colorado Rapids, Rochester New York FC, Fresno FC, St. Louis FC and Atlanta United 2 in the USA.

Twenty-six year old French winger Ulrich N’Nomo played for LB Chateauroux in France, Leyton Orient in England, Gil Vicente in Portugal, Panserraikos in Greece and following another spell in France with Tours FC, he moved back to Greece to play for APO Levadiakos and Apollon Pontou.

Nineteen-year old defensive midfielder Ryan Cheng Chun-Hin, who holds a dual passport of Hong Kong and Malta, started his career at the Chelsea FC Soccer School in Hong Kong and then played for Brooke House in England before moving to Italy earlier this year to join Viterbese.
