Valletta captain Gilbert Agius will be staying with the club for another season after agreeing another one-year deal with the club. This was announced during a press conference which was held at the club premises on Friday.
President Victor Sciriha said that there will be no major changes as for next season and Gilbert Agius will be forming part of the squad once again. Sciriha revealed that Agius will also act as Technical Director at the Valletta FC Nursery.
To mark the twentieth championship, various items of merchandise have now gone on sale. This includes a commemorative limited-edition photo album with images from the twenty championships won by the club, a double DVD with footage from games and celebrations and a CD by Stephen Mizzi which includes a song sung by the players.
Celebrations start on Friday 6th May with entertainment for Valletta supporters in front of the Law Courts. On Saturday, players and committee members will visit the Puttinu Cares Football Marathon where they will be presenting a donation. A carcade will then lead supporters from Valletta to Ta’ Qali where entertainment will be provided before the Valletta vs Tarxien game. The cup will be presented after the game and then celebrations continue in Republic Street, Valletta.
Other events include the traditional ‘funeral’ on Monday 9, a veterans’ game on Wednesday 11, a festival by the Valletta nursery on Thursday 12, a party at Browns Valletta Waterfront on Saturday 21, a mass at St. Augustine Church on Sunday 22 and an End-of-Celebrations Party at Heat Valletta Waterfront on Saturday 28.
