Twelve Premier League players suspended

National StadiumFabio Vignaroli of Balzan was banned for four matches while Joseph Zerafa (Birkirkara) and Admir Vladavic (Sliema) were suspended for two matches as the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner suspended twelve Premier League players after the weekend’s matches.

Jonathan Pearson (Hibs), Omar Borg and Bojan Kaljevic (Mosta), Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro (Naxxar), Joao Gabriel da Silva and Raffaele Simone Quintieri (Qormi), Joseph Caruana (Rabat), Karl Pulo and Carlo Mamo (Tarxien) were all banned for one match.

Vignaroli’s season is therefore over as he will skip the last four matches. Joseph Zerafa will miss the games against Mosta and Sliema while Vladavic is ruled out of the games against Balzan and Birkirkara. Pearson will miss this weekend’s big match against Valletta.

Mosta could not count on Omar Borg and Kaljevic for the game against Birkirkara.

Pulo, Mamo and Gilmar is ruled out of Tarxien vs Naxxar while Gabriel, Quintieri and Joseph Caruana are ruled out of Qormi vs Rabat.

Balzan team-manager George Borg was banned for two matches.

In Division 1, Ian Schembri (Msida) was suspended for three matches, Elton Bugeja (Gudja) and Brady Parnis (Gzira) was banned for two matches while Paul Camilleri (Birzebbuga), Matthew Fleri Soler and Kiril Aleksandrov (Lija), Andrew Amato, Kai Risholt and Michael Johnson (St. Andrews) and Erikson Aga (Zejtun) were all handed a one-match ban.

In Division 2, Pembroke Athleta and Malta Under-21 goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona was banned for one year after being sent off in the game against San Gwann. On the other hand, Slavisa Brkovic of Kirkop was suspended until December 1, 2014. Pembroke Athleta coach Vojko Martinovic was banned for two matches while team-manager Alex Calleja was banned for ten matches after he was reported for instigating the players to leave the pitch.

Didier Tayou (Mqabba) was suspended for wo matches while Dylan Zarb, Kurt Pace and Alex Portelli (Dingli), Joseph Okonwko and Abeeb Abiodun Williams (Fgura), Adrian Gatt (Gharghur), Elland Vella (Marsa), Karl Vassallo (Marsaskala), Matthew Borg (Mellieha), Mark Gauci (Mqabba), Vojko Martinovic (Pembroke), Kurt Zahra and Glenn Agius (San Gwann) and Alessio Cassar (Siggiewi).

Stephen Zammit (Qrendi) was suspended for two matches while Noel Bilocca and Kenneth Spiteri (Ghaxaq), Karl Sammut (Mtarfa), Saviour Sultana and Terrence Cachia (Qrendi), Eman Borg and Gerald Ancilleri (Sta. Venera), Andrew Darmanin and Christian Wismayer (Ta’ Xbiex) and Antoine Barbara (Xghajra).
