BOV Division 1: Gzira United force decider for third place

A decider for third place is necessary in the BOV First Division after Gzira United defeated Mqabba 2-0 to join Melita on the 45-points mark. The decider would determine who will take part in the BOV Premier League play-off against the team finishing third from bottom in the Premier League.

The Maroons scored the two goals in the final seven minutes as John Nwoba managed to break the deadlock on 83 minutes and Ryan Dalli doubled the score three minutes later.

Lija Athletic finish joint-eighth after beating Gudja United 4-1. Predrag Babic broke the deadlock with a goal for Lija six minutes from the end of the first half. Erjon Beu scored a hat-trick in thirteen minutes between the 66th and 79th to increase the lead to 4-0 but Angelo Catania pulled one back for Gudja on the 89th.

Pembroke end their commitments on 55 points, followed by St. Andrews on 51, Melita and Gzira 45, Gudja and St. George’s 41, Fgura 40, Vittoriosa and Lija 38, Mqabba 36, Rabat 26, Zurrieq 19, Msida 15 and Birzebbuga 12.
