The MFA Technical Centre’s Grassroots & Women’s Sector kicked-off the festive season with the now-established FIFA Live Your Goals Festival at the Centenary Stadium, as part of their mission to improve their grassroots’ level in women’s football.
For this season, the MFA invited the Primary School girls from St. Clare College, girls attending the Sacred Heart College Junior School and girls representing St. Dorothy’s Junior School Sliema participated in this festival, under the guidance of qualified MFA coaches, National Team players and also clubs’ coaches.
“This was the best outing ever!” affirmed one of the participants, attesting once again, that this well-organized event was a successful one.
This initiative has reached its principal objectives of attracting girls who are not affiliated with any local clubs and raising awareness that this beautiful game can also be played by girls. By means of this nationwide FIFA Live Your Goals campaign and free open days carrying this slogan, the MFA is expected to generate enthusiasm among girls between 6 and 11 years of age while also link these girls to local clubs in order to increase the number of girls in our local girls’ nurseries.
This campaign is organised by the MFA under the auspices of FIFA. Expressions of thanks are extended to the football governing body for their support to the MFA’s strategy in women’s football at grassroots level.
The MFA Technical Centre would like to thank the DQSE, the Secretariat for Catholic Education, participating schools, coaches and volunteers for their cooperation and enthusiastic participation in sharing their vision of developing women’s football at grassroots level and looks forward in the next Open Day Festival of this season on the 8th of March 2016.
