Ghajnsielem kept a comfortable six-point lead in the Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated St. Laurence Spurs 3-0 in one of two matches in programme on Sunday. A result which condemns St. Laurence to playing in Division 2 next season.

A penalty by Milos Stojanovic on the 18th minute paved the way for the Blacks with Ferdinando Apap scoring twice on the 43rd and 61st.

Xewkija Tigers revenged their defeat to Kercem Ajax in the First Division Knock-Out three days earlier as they won 3-2. John Camilleri opened the score after just one minute and although Shaun Attard levelled matters on the 17th, Thiago Melo dos Santos restored the lead on the 23rd and John Camilleri made it 3-1 seven minutes in the second half. Claudio Antunes reduced the gap eight minutes from time.

Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions defeated Zebbug Rovers 1-0 courtesy of a Kenneth Bonnici goal on the 64th while Nadur Youngsters registered a comfortable 6-1 win over Qala Saints thanks to a brace by Christian Debono on the 8th and 16th, Brandon Said on the 38th, Michael Zerafa on the 51st, Saviour Attard on the 55th and Elijah Xuereb on the 87th with Dylan Bellotti scoring a consolation goal for the Saints on the 64th.
