New mascot for Malta Beach Soccer Association

The Malta Beach Soccer Association held a drawing competition for all kids aged six to thirteen between February and March to help design a mascot for beach soccer.

There were sixty three submissions and all drawings were of high quality, innovative and colourful. All children did a great effort, had fun and enjoyed being part of this MBS initiative.

A group of independent judges had a list of criteria to follow in order to choose the winner, mainly focusing on creativity, colour, imagery, beach-related and also a mascot which can be easily dressed on beaches.

The panel of judges than shortlisted the top four Beach Soccer Mascot submissions and eventually selected the drawing “Merill” by twelve-year old Jayme Hili to represent the Malta Beach Soccer sport locally and abroad. The next step for the Malta Beach Soccer Association is to bring the character drawing to life.

The president of the Malta Beach Soccer Mr. Pio Vassallo together with Public Relations officer Ms. Joanna Camilleri presented the prize to Jayme.
