The BOV Premier League resumes on Saturday following the October international break which saw the senior national team lose to Slovenia and hold Cyprus in a draw and the Under-21 side losing to Lithuania and Slovakia.
In the first match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Balzan take on Floriana.
The two teams currently share fifth place on six points with another three teams. Balzan are coming from a 1-2 defeat to Mosta in their last outing – a third defeat in four matches. Floriana lost 1-2 to Hamrun – their first defeat after three draws and a win from the first four matches.
At the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:00, Hamrun Spartans and Gzira United cross swords in a delicate clash between two teams who were aiming for better performances and results. They are currently sharing fifth place with six points.
The Spartans won two of the last three matches but are definitely aiming for a more positive series as they have already lost three games so far. Gzira, on the other hand, are unbeaten in four matches thanks to draws with Santa Lucia and Sliema, a win over Valletta and a draw with Birkirkara. They had lost their opening game to Hibernians.
Ruled out of this clash are Hamrun Spartans goalkeeper Henry Bonello and Gzira United captain Steve Borg who both sustained injuries in the national team match against Cyprus and are only expected to be back in six weeks and three months respectively.
At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 19:00, Birkirkara take on Gudja United.
Lying two points behind leaders Hibernians, the Stripes maintained their unbeaten run with a second consecutive 1-1 draw, after the draw with Floriana, with a draw against Gzira in their last outing. However following a draw with Santa Lucia, Gudja registered back-to-back wins over Sliema and Valletta and seek another positive result from this clash on Saturday.
