Clubs set-up Malta Premier League

During a meeting held on Wednesday evening, the Premier League clubs agreed on a statute of association between them.

The said association, provisionally known as Malta Professional Football Clubs Association, was renamed Malta Premier League (MPL) in line with other similar associations worldwide.

The MPL has officially written to the Malta Football Association (MFA) asking for recognition as the sole representative of the Premier League clubs, taking the place of the Premier League Standing Committee.

The clubs unanimously endorsed a Plan put forward by MPL Chairman, Joseph Muscat, outlining the priorities and actions in the months to come.

The MPL will engage in discussions with the main stakeholders, including player, referees, supporters, public, media and authorities paving the way for a transition to a new and more attractive Premier Club as soon as possible after the upcoming season. This transition is in agreement with the MFA.
