Futsal champions Luxol St Andrew’s start their defence of the title they had won last season with a difficult game against challengers Swieqi United Futsal. The draws from the Enemed Futsal League were held on Monday.
Knock-Out winners University of Malta ACJ Group were drawn with Marsaskala Futsal while ŻRQ Bormla Futsal will face Malta U19. Ta’ Xbiex Futsal Izola Bank will play against the newly-formed Gzira United Santa Margerita Futsal while Santa Venera Lightnings and Sliema Wanderers will start their commitments with a clash against each other. Finally, the Malta U18 will play against Birżebbuġa St Peter’s.
FMA president Mark Borg said that he was very satisfied that 12 teams applied to take part during this season and thanked the managers of the clubs who are helping to make this game more popular than ever. Borg thanked the two new vice-presidents Nathaniel Jones and Kurt Rizzo who will be working in synergy with the association to continue raising its profile. Borg also thanked the main sponsor Enemed who are giving their financial support to strengthen furthermore the local futsal competitions.
The local futsal season kicks-off on September 29th as champions Luxol cross swords against KO winners University of Malta ACJ Group in the Super Cup final.
