Sirens and Santa Lucia continue chasing their first win as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw in a clash between the two teams lying at the bottom of the BOV Premier League table at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Both teams remain sharing the bottom spot in the table, one point behind Gudja United who will be in action against Floriana later on Sunday.
Santa Lucia created the better chances going close mid-way through the first half when Alessio Piazza served Jurgen Pisani on the left but the latter’s angled shot was blocked by Andrea Cassar with Pisani taking the rebound and serving Piazza whose cross was well met by Wagner who however hit high.
Just past the hour, Evandro exchanged the ball with Wagner but the former’s shot from outside the area ended high. Sirens replied with a Nicholas Pulis freekick which was blocked and Prosper Boakye’s conclusion off the rebound was neutralised by Celio.
In the final stages, Santa Lucia pushed harder, going close with a Steve Pisani effort from outside the area which ended just over the bar and seven minutes from time, an Alessio Piazza effort was cleared off the goal line by Alex Cini. In added time, a freekick by Pisani was parried by Cassar.
