National Sport School squads on training camp in Rotterdam

This Sunday, the National Sport School’s Under 12 and Under 13 football squads will be flying to the Netherlands to take part in a five-day training camp in Rotterdam. The National Sport School was invited for this training camp by the Dutch FA’s Talent Performance Department led by Mr Maurice Hagebeuk.

The two NSS squads, made up of 31 players, will each play three matches against Feyenoord, Sparta Rotterdam and Spartaan ’20. The two squads, who this week have been training at the Ta’ Qali training grounds, will be under the helm of the school’s football head coaches, Mr Paul Zammit and Mr Stefan Sultana.

This camp will not only serve as a unique experience to the students, but also as exposure, since part of the arrangements include observation by high profile Dutch FA personnel. The football coaches and school administration accompanying these young footballers, will also have the opportunity to spend a full day at the Sparta Rotterdam training grounds to share best practice with their professional coaches. The students will also train together with the young Sparta Rotterdam players.

The National Sport School would like to express its deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Employment, the Hon. Minister Mr Evarist Bartolo, the Hon Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Mr Chris Agius, the Malta FA and Konica Minolta for their unceasing support in making this training camp possible. The contingent will be back in Malta on Friday afternoon.
