BOV Division 1: Qormi maintain seven-point lead

Qormi maintained a seven-point lead on top the BOV First Division as they came from behind to beat Melita 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Fabien Lufi put Melita ahead on the 24th minute but early in the second half, Qormi turned the score in their favour thanks to an own goal on the 50th and Dejuan Vukovic two minutes later.

Zejtun Corinthians joined Mqabba in third place as they defeated Zabbar St. Patrick 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Johan Alberto Castano put Zejtun ahead but Gaetano Adamo levelled matters. However Zejtun regained the lead thanks to Filippo Andrea Scozzese with Johan Alberto Castano and Omar El Hussieny increasing the lead further.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars and Pembroke Athleta shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe put Vittoriosa ahead on the 40th minute but Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza equalised on the 70th.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal on the 80th by Gary Camilleri and another by Leighton Grech eight minutes later gave Zebbug Rangers a 2-0 win over Qrendi.

Qormi lead the way with 50 points, followed by Pietà on 43, Mqabba and Zejtun 41, San Gwann 39, Zebbug 38, Vittoriosa 34, Qrendi 26, Sirens 25, Pembroke 22, Zabbar 19, Marsa 18, Melita 14 and Rabat 5.
